The history of Amontarista Plana begins at about 1992, when Marios Gkialos began expressing his artistic nature by writing lyrics. His childhood friend, Panayiotis Zambourlis, coworker in the creation for a respectable time, added music to those lyrics at the beginning. They recorded together 2 amateur albums, in 1998 and 1999, on a PC that was old even for its own time. At the first CD, the drummer was Costas, Marios' brother (for whom the current drummer, Panayiotis Vlachos, still keeps the utmost respect). In 2001, another CD was recorded, with the participation of Panayiotis Z. much more limited, because of lack of time.

In 2002, Marios began playing bass with Akyron, local rock group of Chrysoupolis, along with exceptional musicians (Panayiotis Z. and Costas among others). For 3 consecutive years, they participate at the festival of Keramoti "Plai sto kyma" (next to the wave). In 2004, he gives life to his will to create a total of songs all by himself. The four CDs that were recorded between 1998 and 2004 will compile a strong base for his music future.

In March of 2006, Some Say So will be created, whose member became on September of the same year, Panayiotis Vlachos. After their split up, 12 months later, Marios and Panayiotis V. spotted John Goumaras and Vaios Charakopidis and began working exclusively on Marios' material. We can safely state here that this was the establishment of the band "Amontarista Plana". After 9 months, Vaios leaves the band due to heavy schedule and Amontarista Plana remain a three-man band. Marios parks the guitar and takes over the bass once more. In the time 2007 - 2008 they recorded professionally their first CD titled "Life fairytale" and at the same time they are auditioning musicians for the enrichment of the band. In the beginning of 2009, the new members, John Dimitriadis and John Nissopoulos get on board with Amontarista Plana. Marios is extremely happy because "a band without a John, can't go on" (a greek saying that talks about homes, not bands...) and Amontarista Plana have not just one but three of them. At the end of 2009 John G. has to serve in the army and John D. has not time to follow the band around. Their place is covered by Chris Mpaloukas (guitar) and Diamantopoulos Sotiris (keyboards)

All members of the band, except for Marios, are at the same time and students of Democritus University of Thrace. For that reason, they consider Xanthi as their home and more specifically the polytechinical school. The sound of the band moves from blues to hard rock. Their style is unique and their stage presence extremely dynamic, making every gig of the band a new experience for all people present.
